Hoteliers on Mujeres Islands Grumble about Blaring Noise

Downtown hotels in the Mexican destination of Mujeres Islands blasted municipal authorities for failing to regulate the ear-splitting noisiness coming from local disco nightclubs and restaurants that play live music way above nighttime decibel limits and give guests a hard time.

The complaint was made during a briefing held in a well-known local lodging by the Federal Attorney’s Office for the Protection of Consumers.

Hoteliers lamented what they call the unwillingness on the part of municipal authorities to work things out, and agreed to send a brief communiqué to Mayor Paulino Adame Torres with a view to prevent that situation from happening all over again during the oncoming high-peak travel season.

PROFECO Chief Inspector Omar Argaez Perez and Carlos Cervera Foster, chairman of the Mujeres Island Hotel & Motel Association, were some of the attendants to the briefing that also gathered a dozen hotel owners for a two-hour powwow to discuss hearing pollution on Hidalgo Avenue, the destination’s main street.
