Hotelier: A Step Forward for Tobago Tourism

President of the Tobago Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Association (THRTA) Nicholas Hardwicke has described the $3.7 billion allocation to Tobago as high in sentiment and strategy, but lacking in detail. Despite this he welcomes several of the initiatives presented by Finance Minister Larry Howai, for example, the marina at Petit Trou, Tobago Plantations.

“As far as infrastructural development for Tobago is concerned, for the tourism sector, it’s a very important step going forward. There is a lot of spin-off activity that would be generated around that.

“Not just the facility for docking and supply of the vessels that would be using the facility, but also an integrated facility for restaurants, hotels and property development that goes around it,” Hardwicke said.

He said, the intent by the minister, in addressing the Caribbean Airlines issue is also welcome, as the recent July/August vacation was a major irritant in the number of delayed and lack of flights available to the travelling public.
