Honduras to Get First Holiday Inn Express

InterContinental Hotels announces that a 104-room Holiday Inn Express in San Pedro Sula, Honduras will be built. The 11-story hotel will be owned by Desarrollos Monumentales, S.A. de CV under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group and is scheduled to open September 2008.

This hotel will be the first Holiday Inn Express in Honduras and the fourth IHG property in the country. San Pedro Sula has an estimated population of one million and is the second largest city in the country after the Honduran Capital of Tegucigalpa.

Currently, there are three IHG properties in Honduras including the Real InterContinental San Pedro Sula, the Real InterContinental Tegucigalpa and the Holiday Inn San Pedro Sula also owned by Desarrollos Monumentales, S.A. Recently, IHG announced the groundbreaking of the first Holiday Inn Express in Central America, the San Jose Forum in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Upon completion, the hotel will have an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, four meeting rooms to accommodate up to 50 people and a business center.
