Since August 13, a meaningful date to the institution because it was handed to the top authorities of the government and the province, the people of Santiago have the opportunity to enjoy different cultural proposals.
The gala to celebrate this new anniversary was attended by emblematic local groups, such as Danza del Caribe, troubadour José Aquiles, and many others.
During the evening, the director of the theater, Leonel Galán, placed emphasis on the institution’s commitment to pay tribute to the 500th anniversary of the foundation of this city with a wide range to cultural activities, targeting the preferences of the people.
It was a perfect moment to congratulate Fidel Castro Ruz for his 88th birthday and recall Niagara poet José María Herida y Heredia with a floral offering placed by founder Matilde Mortó. Afterwards, Zeida Suárez, a promotion specialist and founder of the Theater, paid tribute to other founding workers.
Through August 23, when Heredia Theater was inaugurated back in 1991, the workers will keep on developing such activities as the visit to Holguin’s Eddy Suñol Theater, a talk on the centenary of painter Armando Rodríguez Horrutinier, as an art gallery was named after him and includes other spaces like Pacho Alonso dance floor, El Niágara Café Cantante and Las Estrellas bar.
