Hawaiian Airlines to Put San Diego-Maui Route on Hold

Hawaiian Airlines will suspend its daily San Diego-Maui service for nine weeks, beginning Jan. 9, due to a temporary shortage of aircraft.

The carrier said it has encountered “an unexpected delay in getting interior modifications completed and certified” for four 767s that were recently added to its fleet.

Hawaiian plans to re-accommodate San Diego-Maui traffic on other flights, including San Diego-Honolulu flights with an inter-island connection to Maui. The carrier said the nonstop service is slated to resume March 16.
