Tourism stakeholders and business representatives have been afforded the opportunity to introduce their businesses to the Trinidad market. Minister of Tourism Irfaan Ali paid a recent visit to the twin island to promote and market destination Guyana.

“T&T has the largest travelling population in the Caribbean and I think that it was important that we break into that marketing firm that would be coming to Guyana … to work with us on developing packages that can be advertised in a Trinidad market that can pull people here in Guyana” Minister Ali said.

All tour operators, travel agencies, resorts, hotels, conservation bodies and partners in tourism related business were invited on Saturday June 16 to hear from the Advantage Advertising Group on marketing opportunities at the Guyana International Conference Center, Liliendaal from 9:00hrs.

Additionally Guyana was also sold to the Yachting industry in Trinidad as a sailing destination. Guyana’s representatives wasted no time in Trinidad as they also discussed the issue of Guyanese in-transit passengers to Trinidad.

Minister Ali noted that the Trinidadian authorities are working on increasing Guyanese passengers’ ease of travel with the building of a new in-transit lounge at the Piarco International Airport. It is expected that within six weeks there will be significant improvement in that regard.
