Grenada Needs to Undergo Thorough Police Review, Grenada Tourism Minister Says

Grenada's tourism minister is trying to look for some positives in the tragic case of the Toronto man allegedly beaten to death by police on the island. On one hand, Peter David says the fact five officers are charged with manslaughter sends a clear message that abuses will not be tolerated.

And on another, David says he's sure the case won't hurt the Caribbean nation's tourist trade because tourists understand it was an isolated incident. That said, David acknowledges policing on Grenada needs to undergo a thorough review.

Thirty-nine year Oscar Batholomew was arrested on Boxing Day and died the day after of severe head injuries. His case has sparked allegations of widespread police misconduct. The accused officers have yet to enter a plea and none of the allegations have been tested in court.
