Grenada Hopes AA Will Resume Flights Anytime Soon

The island nation of Grenada is hoping that a meeting with senior executives of American Airlines to be held this week will result in the return of the airline to the destination.

Grenadian Tourism Minister. Brenda Hood and two members of the Grenada Airlift Committee, chairman Michael Mc lntyre and Sir Royston Hopkin, left the island on Tuesday for Miami, where they will be meeting with the decision makers of American Airlines.

The purpose of the meeting is to hold discussions with American Airlines senior executives to have the airline begin flights to Grenada.

A news release from the Ministry of Tourism said that the foreseeable benefit of this high level senior meeting includes the improvement of airlift into Grenada from Miami and by extension North America, the provision of options for passengers wanting to travel to Grenada via the Miami hub for Cricket World Cup 2007 and the enhancement of the image of Grenada as a tourist destination that is accessible to existing and potential passengers.

Grenada´s international airport was one of the OECS airports under the management of Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority which recently received a category one status from the US Federal Aviation Authority.
