Gordon “Butch” Stewart to Share his Wisdom

Leading Caribbean hotelier, Gordon “Butch” Stewart, will be the guest speaker at today’s luncheon of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) luncheon at the Hilton Barbados Resort.

Stewart, who has created several hotels across the Caribbean, is also looking to do so in Barbados. Members of the business community, including a number of hoteliers, will come face to face with the man whose plans for Barbados are aimed at stimulating activity in the industry.

Stewart has signed an agreement with the Government of Barbados as the former Almond Casuarina Beach Resort in the south of the island is being transformed into Sandals Barbados, while the site of the former Almond Beach Village in the north will become the brand-new Beaches Resort.

Some people have suggested that the entrance of Stewart’s Sandals Resort international into Barbados holds much significance in dealing with some of the challenges for the Barbados Tourism Industry.

This is so especially after the high hopes expected from the proposed Four Seasons project continues to falter and the loss of Almond.

Many have opined that Sandals entering Barbados will have major impact because of its marketing might, employment opportunities, boost numbers and confidence in the Barbadian market.

On the other hand, there was the uproar of local hoteliers about the concessions that Sandals Resorts was given to enter the market.

Stewart also considered King of all-inclusive resorts and the master of marketing will share his Perspective on the Business of Tourism in Barbados and the Wider Caribbean.

To this end Barbadian hoteliers and business persons will be keen to question him on varying issues that they are facing in tough times. Sandals has grown into a huge multimillion dollar industry from small beginnings and also in environments that have had difficulties economic challenges.

The area of branding is also vital as he has been able to turn Sandals into a household name throughout the world. Stewart has previously indicated Sandals stays on top of the all-inclusive market by providing more than the customer expects.
