Giovanni Brugnaro Appointed as Vatican’s Rep to the WTO

Pope John Paul II has just appointed Italian Monsignor Giovanni Franceso Brugnaro as the Holy See Permanent Observer to the World Tourism Organization, Vatican sources informed this week.
Monsignor Brugnaro, 62, is replacing Prelate Piero Monni who presented his resignation to the Holy Father in recent days.
Giovanni Francesco Brugnaro was born in Padua (northern Italy) in 1943 and has a degree in Philosophy at the University of Padua, plus another one in Theology and Philosophy at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
Monsignor Brugnaro was ordained in 1982 and joined the Congregation of Oriental Churches in 1995, where he remained until his appointment to the diplomatic outpost.
