An American tourist drowned in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on Tuesday after a giant wave swept away him and two others, according to an Associated Press report.

Richard Harry Barr, 72, from Fort Smith, Ark., drowned. The two others managed to swim to shore. The three were reportedly taking a walk along the beach when they were hit by the wave.

The surf was unusually rough from the effects of Tropical Depression Karina. On the same stretch of beach two years ago, a giant wave swept away and killed an American tourist, reported the AP.
