In anticipation to the ITB Fair in Berlin next March, Germany-based TUI –Europe’s largest tour operator- is conducting a promotional blitz entitled The Mexico Month at its Interactive Travel Center in the nation’s capital, not far from the Brandenburg Gate.

The Mexico Month has been underway since February 8 and will come to a close on March 16. Experts hope the promotional effort will provide Mexico with an additional offer within the framework of the International Tourism Fair in Berlin.

Unter den Linden, where the Interactive Travel Center is located, is one of the most bustling avenues of the German capital, marked by a section that formerly divided the east and west sides of town.

Visitors and invitees to the Mexico Month will have a magnificent opportunity to take a firsthand look at the assortment of vacation offers that the Aztec nation has to offer.

Mexico: A Country, A Thousand Worlds and Mexico: Unique, Diverse and Hospitable will be the two slogans used in the campaign. A grand total of 150 video clips depicting Mexico as a tourist destination will be aired during the show.

Visitors will also have the chance of skimming through some 250 books on Mexico’s travel industry.

Organizers are also planning on a number of seminars to target both TUI salespeople dealing with Mexican destinations and would-be customers with a view to raise awareness and knowledge of Mexico.

Some of the seminars will deal, among other topics, with the life and work of German-Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, as well as with the ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations.

TUI will employ fifteen people at the Interactive Travel Center to cater to visitors willing to taste Mexican food and drinks, or to those eager to listen to live Mariachi music in the most legitimate sample of the Mexican party spirit.

The Center is outfitted with huge Internet screens playing clips on Mexico, as well as with headphones and other devices to simulate the sound and smell of sea waves whenever a Mexican beach is shown on the screen.

The Mexico Month is a cooperative action between Europe’s biggest tour operator and the Frankfurt Office of the Mexican Tourist Promotion Council.
