General Tours Debuts Galapagos, Amazon Cruise Tour
General Tours World Traveler is adding a new trip to its collection of 24 small ship journeys, the 11-day Cruise the Galapagos & Amazon trip. It’s a two-ship voyage not offered by other companies.
The first half of the trip immerses clients deep in the jungle, aboard the Delfin, a vessel with just seven air-conditioned cabins, each with private bath en suite. With an expert staff of shipboard naturalists, guests explore the Samira National Reserve, the largest protected area in Peru.
The three-night cruise brings the Delfin all the way to the source of the Amazon before guests disembark for a return flight to Lima and onward to Quito, Ecuador.
After an overnight at the luxury Swissotel in Quito, guests step aboard the all-suites MV Galapagos Explorer II for a three-night cruise through this wildlife-rich archipelago. Five naturalist-guided excursions reveal the bio-diversity of these island eco-systems. A visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station is included so guests learn firsthand about the important Galapagos tortoise breeding program.
In addition to six nights cruising, the program features five-star hotels in Lima and Quito, sightseeing in these two South American capitals, 24 meals, and wine with dinner. Naturalist-guided shore excursions, port charges, park fees, and internal flights are also included.
