European Travel Agents to Promote Panama in the Old World
Some 600 European travel agents will visit Panama with the view of learning about the tourist attractions this country has to offer and advertising the nation in the Old World, the Panama Tourism Institute (IPAT) reported.
These agents and their entourages are part of an aggressive campaign devised by a number of companies associated to Air Madrid, the Spanish air carrier, that want to know Panama and sell it as a travel destination in Spain and across Europe.
Throughout the next couple of months, the travel agents will visit the country in groups of forty people with travel packages that include airfares, hotels, meals and promotional tours.
Air Madrid and its associated Spanish companies attached to the CELUISMA Financial Group, have joined hands in a bid to promote Panama as a travel destination within Europe, one of the world’s leading tourist-sending markets.
Air Madrid representative in Panama, Enrique Pesantez, said the initiative represents a new investment in the short and long run that adds up to $600,000.
Referring to the new promotional effort, Panamanian Tourism Minister Ruben Blades was quoted as saying that “the first step is the creation of a new market niche for Panama and then keep up the good work to buttress the offer in Madrid and in the rest of Europe.”
