Tom Nutley, former chairman of Reed Travel Exhibitions, has joined the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA) as head of industry liaisons. He will help coordinate City Break, the tourism industry exhibition in Gothenburg, Sweden, which this year is managed by ETOA in a new partnership arrangement with RTE. The collaboration is particularly significant as City Break came into being under the stewardship of Nutley, and is now in its fourth year.

Nutley joined Reed in 1982 and is credited with developing World Travel Market into the top global industry event. He pioneered RTE’s Meridian Club, a new concept in customer relationship marketing, allowing senior executives to negotiate major buying contracts in a concentrated business-to-business environment.

He has also been responsible for developing travel industry events around the world, including the Arabian Travel Market, International Golf Travel Market, CBITM as well as City Break. Nutley retired as chairman of Reed Travel Exhibitions last year after 25 years with the Reed group and has since maintained his involvement in travel and tourism through a portfolio of non-executive roles in companies and trade associations.
