El Cid to Open Luxury Resort in Cancun´s Maya Riviera
El Cid Resorts will open its sixth hotel this December as part of the company´s new, $200 million complex bordering Puerto Morelos National Reef Park in the Cancun Riviera Maya.
The oceanfront resort, Hotel Marina El Cid Cancun Riviera Maya, will be located 12 miles south of the Cancun International Airport, halfway between the city of Cancun and the town of Playa del Carmen. El Cid´s new, 617-acre complex boasts a state-of-the-art marina, now in operation a block away from the resort site. In the near future, the complex also will house boutiques, restaurants and luxury condominiums.
“Our guests will experience three fantastic worlds in one location,” says Carlos Berdegue, CEO of El Cid Resorts. “The new resort will be close to Cancun, renowned for shopping and nightlife. Also nearby, guests can marvel at the ruins of the ancient Mayan civilization.
“The resort´s beaches will be right on Puerto Morelos,” Bergegue continues. “Guests will find wide expanses of silky, white sand; clear turquoise waters, and spectacular underwater life ideal for snorkeling and diving.”
Construction on the new, $40-million Hotel Marina El Cid Cancun Riviera Maya began in March, 2005. When completed, the 904,300 square-foot property will feature 350 suites in 11 four-story buildings. El Cid Cancun´s architecture will mix colonial and modern styles, featuring palapa huts and sleek, brick-and-concrete structures surrounding a magnificent, 22,000 square-foot, free-form pool.
The first phase of development, scheduled for completion December 17, will consist of 200 suites plus all public areas. Among its common areas, the 21-acre El Cid Cancun will have: restaurants, bars, business center, tropical gardens, hair/nails salon, and Temazcal spa.
