EasyJet Plans to Increase Earnings per Passenger to €6 by 2008

As more and more airlines focus on ancillary revenues, easyJet PLC chief executive Andrew Harrison has indicated about airline´s plans to increase its earnings per passenger to €6 from €3 by 2008 by offering more services.

“We will reduce our costs. And naturally we will also offer passengers other services including more car rentals, hotel bookings and more in-flight shopping,” Mr. Harrison was quoted as saying in a German newspaper.

Ryanair, which last week reported pre-tax profits of just under €339 million for the year to the end of March, recently shared that it aiming to boost ancillary revenues –revenues other than fares- and was close to finalizing mobile phone services and website gambling on board its planes.

Ancillary revenues for the year for Ryanair rose from €191 million to €259 million. The airline said its recent introduction of web check-in and charges for bags were running ahead of expectations.
