EasyJet Pay Deal Vote Extended

A ballot of more than 1,500 cabin crew at budget airline easyJet over whether to accept a pay deal or consider strike action has been extended until next week, a union said earlier this week.

The Transport & General Workers Union (T&G) said a vote on whether to accept a two year wage deal, due to close on Thursday, had been extended until June 7.

“The ballot has been extended until next week due to postal problems with our European colleagues,” T&G negotiator John Street said.

The union said last month easyJet staff would consider striking over the busy summer travel period if they failed to back the proposed wage deal.

The T&G decided to ballot its members after easyJet went direct to about 2,000 cabin crew with a pay offer.

Rival British Airways has been hit with industrial action or staffing problems for the past three summers.
