Dominican Republic’s Las Americas Ranks as Safest Caribbean Airport

The United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has described Santo Domingo’s Las Américas airport as the safest in the Caribbean region. The announcement came during a meeting of Dominican Airport Authority (Aerodom) and the Special Airport Security Corps (CESA).

The TSA starting conducting security inspections after the September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in the United States.

TSA Representatives Victor Guardia, George L. Perez and Anthony Tranumm, who provided advice and carried out inspections at AILA, expressed their satisfaction with the improvements and the changes implemented by Aerodom in the management of the country’s main airport, which serves the capital city and the surrounding area.

“I am very impressed and satisfied with what we have seen: improvement, changes...” said Mr. Guardia, who represents the TSA for Central America, the Dominican Republic and Cuba.
