Divi Resorts Appoints Van Wijk as New Chief Operating Officer

Caribbean operator Divi Resorts is appointing Mr. Maarten Van Wijk as its new Executive Vice President.

Mr. Van Wijk will be assuming the duties of departing Divi Resorts President and Chief Operating Officer, Ray Hobbs. Mr. Van Wijk had been the acting General Manager of the Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino in Bonaire from May 2005 to January 2006.

Born and raised in The Netherlands and in the hotel industry, Mr. Van Wijk began his career in 1978. Before joining the Divi Flamingo team he worked for more than twelve years with Hershey Entertainment and Resorts (HE&R) where he held various positions including the General Manager for six years of the prestigious Hotel Hershey in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Van Wijk received his BA at the School of Hotel Management and Administration at The Hague, The Netherlands and is fluent in four languages. After living in the U.S. for twenty-five years, he became a U.S. citizen in 2002.
