The Association of Caribbean States (ACS) is determined to develop a virtual market to ease trade among the region’s countries, a service that according to Luis Noriega, director of the ACS Trade Division, will allow corporate people in the Caribbean to offer their products and search for others willing to import them.

In Mr. Noriega’s opinion, the fact of the matter is to facilitate trade actions and announced the virtual market will soon be signed into an official tool in Havana within the framework of a much broader and comprehensive institutional cooperation agreement.

The improvement of trade ties among Caribbean territories is hitting such snags as transportation liabilities and the fact that their chief exports are bound for the huge markets in the United States and Europe.

The ACS is planning on building an all-embracing information system on tourism, transportation, natural disasters and trade.
