Delta Plans to Launch Service to Fourth Dominican Republic Destination

Beginning on December 15, Delta Airlines will launch service from Atlanta to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, subject to government approval.

Puerto Plata will be the fourth destination served by Delta in the Dominican Republic, including Santo Domingo, Punta Cana and Santiago de los Caballeros.

According to Jim Whitehurst, Delta´s COO, by 2007 the company intends to become the number-two carrier to Latin America and the Caribbean among U.S. airlines.

Over the past year, Delta Airlines has either announced or started out service to 40 new routes in Latin America and the Caribbean.
