Delta filed plans at the Transportation Department for launching six new nonstop U.S.-Mexico routes, including New York-Acapulco.

Subject to government approvals, all the new routes would operate on a weekend-only basis, using 737 aircraft configured for 16 premium and 134 coach seats.

In chronological order, Delta proposes the following routes: Cincinnati-Los Cabos on Dec. 3; Atlanta-Merida on Feb. 25; New York-Cozumel on March 4; New York-Los Cabos on March 4; New York-Puerto Vallarta on March 4, and New York-Acapulco on March 11.

All the New York services would operate from New York (Kennedy). Delta said it would be offering the only nonstop service on each route, though Continental serves Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta from Newark.
