Delta Appoints New Management Team

Delta Airlines has just announced the formation of a new management team made up of experts in civil aviation and veteran collaborators who know all the ropes about how this company works and have plenty of experience and expertise under their belts to cope with challenges on the road ahead.

The new management team will get to work on June 1 and will report directly to Mr. Grinstein, Delta’s CEO and President.

Vicki Escarra, 51, will take over as executive vice president and director of Customer Services in airports, bookings, sales, air logistics and boarding services. Mrs. Escarra had formerly served as executive vice president and marketing director.

Mike Palumbo, 57, will be executive vice president and financial director in charge of financial planning service, financial control, relations with investors, taxes, threats, supply chains, corporate real estate, benefit improvement initiatives, fleet purchases and Delta Technology. Mr. Palumbo is a newcomer to the Delta family.

Joe Kolshak, 47, will be senior vice president and director of operations. He’ll have to do with flight and technical operations, the operation control center, safety and security and will be at the helm of Delta Connection, Inc. Mr. Kolshak was senior vice president of flight operations in the past.

Lee Macenczak, 42, is the company’s new senior vice president and director of human resources, dealing also with global and social diversity, labor relations and Delta Global Services. Mr. Macenczak served as senior vice president of sales and dealership.

Paul Matsen, 44, will sit in as senior vice president and marketing director, accounting for the company’s marketing, sales, dealerships, prices, revenues, international relations and alliances. He’ll also see to Song Matsen, Delta’s affiliate. Prior t his appointment, he was senior vice president for international relations and alliances.

Greg Riggs, 56, is Delta’s new senior vice president, general consultant and director of corporate affairs, He’ll also see to judicial matters, corporate communications, governmental and public affairs. Mr. Riggs was senior vice president and general consultant for Delta.

Dan Lewis, 46, will replace Tom Slocum as director of corporate communications. Up to now, Mr. Lewis was serving as general manager and director of corporate communications.

Jim Whitehurst, 36, will serve as senior vice president and director of networks and planning. He’ll be in charge of network planning, timetables, fleet strategic and corporate planning, and business development. Mr. Whitehurst was Delta’s senior financial vice president.
