Delta Agrees to Defray $2 Million on Access Issues
Delta agreed to pay $2 million in penalties and remedial expenditures after the Transportation Department cited the carrier for multiple infractions of the Air Carrier Access Act dating from 2007 and 2008.
The DOT said Delta failed to properly accommodate and assist wheelchair passengers and failed to handle and record complaints. Of the total, $750,000 is a civil penalty; the remainder consists of offsets for tracking systems, compliance audits and website improvements.
