Cuban Tour Operator Havanatur Opens Office in Brazil
The international group of tour operators and travel agencies Havanatur opened an office in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, aimed at offering Cuban destinations in this South American country.
In the opening ceremony were present the Cuban Tourism Minister, Manuel Marrero, vice minister Xiomara Martinez and presidents of Hotel chains Gran Caribe, Cubanacan and Gaviota. One of the objectives of the office is to increase the visit of Brazilians to Cuba.
In statements to Prensa Latina, Havanatur vice president Leonel Luis Guillot highlighted the possibilities that increase with the resume last July 11 of the Cubana de Aviacion Airline direct flights between Havana and Sao Paulo.
That route and the attractive tourism packages will be useful to increase the number of visitors, he said and advanced that they are creating conditions to offer destinations through internet, which are cheaper. In 2012, 16 000 Brazilians visit Cuba and the prospects are to double the number this year.
