Cuban hotels in Jardines del Rey are put through their paces

The certification of Cuban hotels got underway in the destination of Jardines del Rey and the Sol Cayo Coco resort –owned by Cuban hotel group Gran Caribe and run by Spanish giant Sol Meliá- came out a four-star establishment in a ceremony presided over by Cuba’s tourism minister Ibrahim Ferradaz.

These many stars are granted by the National Tourism Establishment Classification Commission. Gustavo Cabedo, general manager of Sol Cayo Coco, said all the hotel’s employees are committed to keep up the good work and the level they have reached.

In his remarks in a ceremony in which a Four-Star Hotel Certification Plaque was unveiled, the high-ranking Cuban official pointed out that for the last couple of years this particular hotel has been working painstakingly toward a higher quality level in sync with economic efficiency standards.

This effort –he said- allowed the facility to wrap up the year 2002 with good economic outcomes and a tourist product that’s going stronger and stealing the spotlight in the world market.

For his part, Mr. Ferradaz expressed satisfaction that this is Cuba’s first hotel that completes the certification process amid celebrations to mark the destination’s tenth anniversary. As we speak, Jardines del Rey counts on 3,300 rooms for international tourists.
