Under the new motto “Viva Cuba” (Long Live Cuba), the island nation’s tourism office in France has just launched a new promotional and advertisement campaign aimed at luring travel industry professionals and the general public.

This new publicity project –it has already won the hearts of the would-be French sunbathers- was pieced together by Cuba’s state-run PUBLICITUR company and has been distributed to such major French publications as L Echos Touristique, Tour Hebdo, Univers des Voyages and Quotidien du Tourisme.

Stickers and billboards have also been splayed on more that 200 subway stations in Paris, most of them depicting the city of Havana and its 1950s-vintage classic cars, and colonial burgs like Trinidad, where time seems to be standing still.

The promotional blitz’s second part –to be phased in as soon as September and October- will include a 30-second promo ad on Cuba’s great allures for French tourists to be run on a number of major local TV networks like LCI, Sport and Voyages.

According to a high-ranking executive at Cuba’s Tourism Office in Paris, the island nation’s publicity actions are fully backed up by tour operators Havanatur, Marsans, Vacances Transat, Nouvelle Frontieres, Look Voyages, among others.
