Cuba implements new customs regulations to stave off fake cigars
A new customs regulation issued by Cuba’s Customs Office comes to toughen existing guidelines that regulate the export of hand-rolled tobacco from the island nation.
From now on, both national and foreign travelers will be bound to orally declare to customs agents whether they intend to take Cuban cigars out of the country.
In the light of this regulation, all travelers will be obliged to produce of copy of the original sale receipt issued by one of the country’s many authorized stores every time they intend to take more than 23 cigars out of the country.
Hand-rolled cigars should be shipped in their original cases and carrying all proper seals, including the new watermark stamp.
Failure to comply with these regulations would prompt customs agents to seize the products.
