CTO Gives Wes Hall Lifetime Achievement Award

Reverend Wes Hall of Jamaica received the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to regional tourism.

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) rewarded him for his significant influence on the Caribbean and Caribbean tourism at the 34th Annual Governments of the Caribbean State Ball, held on June 15 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.

He served as Minister of Tourism in the 1980s and implemented many sports-related initiatives which have been adopted globally. He was also chairman of the CTO.

At age 69, Mr. Hall continues to serve as an evangelical church leader, while maintaining an involvement in cricket as a member of the board of directors of the Stanford 20/20 Cricket Project. He is chairman of Barbados Legends, and earlier this year was inducted into the West Indies Cricket Hall of Fame. Among the many honors Hall has received, he has also been conferred the degree of Doctor of Laws.

Other individuals who received awards were Earl B. Smith, former president of the Caribbean Hotel Association and CTO chapter leader in the Cayman Islands; Haitian, Wyclef Jean, a multiple Grammy Award-winning artist and humanitarian; Lasana Mwanza Sekou, a brilliant poet, storyteller, author and publisher from St Martin; Josser Daniel, one of the most recognized individuals in the hospitality sector
on St. Eustatius (Statia) and Rita Cabrer Botello of the Dominican Republic, a well respected researcher of the tourism industry.
