Cozumel-bound flights from Miami, Cuba

Beginning on Oct. 30 through April 2004, there’ll be flights from Miami and Cuba’s Havana landing on Cozumel Island every Thursday and Sunday. The deal was cut by Multidestinos, a travel agency that spent $2 million in an effort to bring in more travelers to this Mexican island that’s seen in many parts of the planet as an exclusive site for scuba divers.

In the face of an increasing lack of air communication and pressed by the fact that the Cancun connections have panned out to be some sort of “ghost bridge,” the island’s tour operators agreed the only way to boost the local leisure industry is through direct flights to Cozumel.

Each flight from Miami will carry 142 passengers, while those from Havana will bring a hundred travelers.
