Cozumel-bound Flight from London in 2005

Beginning on May 1, 2005 to October 31 that same year, First Choice will start flying to the Mexican island with direct flights from London every other week for up to 254 passengers. “This is definitely going to put Cozumel on the map for Europeans,” said Gaston Cantarell Diaz, president of the Cozumel Hotels Association.

In Mr. Diaz’s opinion, the deal came through last year in London after Cozumel was praised as the world’s best scuba dive destination. The award-presentation ceremony was attended at the time by Cozumel Gov. Joaquin Hendricks Diaz and Municipal President Carlos Hernandez Blanco, who also set negotiations going.

”All details must be taken care of for planning a flight like this two years ahead of the initial schedule. That guarantees everything it takes for the printout of brochures and other promotional materials,” Mr. Blanco pointed out.

”This is a major step for Cozumel because European tourists coming over here are few and far between,” he went on to say.
