Panama’s Copa Airlines has sketched out a new product –Copa Conventions- in an effort to put the Dominican Republic, Cancun, Colombia’s Cartagena de Indias and Cuba as world-class destinations for congress and conferences.

Amid increasing demand for this kind of service, the Panamanian carrier was forced to add bigger planes to its fleet with a view to assimilate the larger amount of passengers traveling to the Dominican Republic.

Adolfo Sen, chief of international sales for Copa Airlines, explained the new strategy is aimed at finding out passengers’ needs in order to have services revamped according to their ever-growing requirements.

Since the 1990s, conventions and related events were the third biggest motivation for travelers worldwide. “That’s why Copa is giving event planners everywhere an array of destinations that count on all the conveniences they need for this kind of service,” Mr. Sen said.

Copa Conventions is giving significant hype to Cancun, the Dominican Republic, Cartagena de Indias and Cuba. For the air company, these are the four fabs for conventions in the region because of their top-of-the-line conference centers, well-trained personnel and great communication systems.

Mr. Sen also noted that the four destinations offer an assortment of solutions guaranteed to clinch the success of whatever event international organizers might have in mind.
