Continental Airlines Flying Non-Stop between Houston and Two New Destinations in Mexico

Continental Airlines announced it will begin nonstop service June 9 between Houston International Airport and two Mexican destinations (Durango and Queretaro), pending government approval.

With the addition of the new routes, Continental will serve five destinations in Mexico from Houston. In December 2004, Continental began flights from Houston to Aguascalientes, Leon-Guanajuato and Morelia, Mexico. Continental´s Houston-Mexico flights complement the airline´s existing service to these markets from Los Angeles.

Continental serves 30 Mexican destinations from the U.S. –more than any other U.S. airline.

The airline will be the only airline offering daily nonstop service between Houston International Airport and Queretaro. The Houston- Durango flight will operate four times weekly in June, daily in July and August, and two times/week during off-season.

Continental Express will utilize the 50-passenger Embraer EMB-145 regional jet on its nonstop service on each of the new routes. The RJs feature a fully equipped galley, a spacious lavatory, and a comfortable interior with only window and aisle seating.

The airline began daily nonstop service between Houston and Queretaro, the airline´s newest Mexico destination, on March 17. Queretaro is home to a number of companies such as Delphi, Kellogg´s, Kimberly-Clark and Polaroid. Many U.S. expatriates also live in the area. In addition, Queretaro´s new international airport is only 53 miles from San Miguel de Allende, one of Mexico´s leading colonial tourist destinations.

Durango is a mining center located at the crossroads of two highways linking the Pacific coast with Monterrey and Mexico City. Already a famous location setting for "Westerns" and other movies, Durango is also a growing adventure travel destination.

Continental Airlines serves 65 destinations in 24 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Continental offers a number of Spanish-language services, including bilingual flight attendants on many flights to Latin America; and bilingual airport personnel, reservations agents and signage.
