Club Med to Reopen Guadeloupe Property Following Megabuck Refurb

After $29 million in renovations and upgrades, the 329-room Club Med La Caravelle in Guadeloupe will reopen December 16 following a nine-month closure.

Three days earlier, Delta Airlines will launch twice-weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays from Atlanta to Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe.

La Caravelle, a longtime favorite with families, opened in 1971 and will feature new facilities catering to the younger set, including a Mini-Club Med for youngsters ages 4 to 10 and a Junior Club for teenagers up to 17.

The resort upgrade marks the final stage in Club Med´s plan to create more upscale, all-inclusive experiences at its properties in the Caribbean and Mexico.

Since 2002, Club Med has poured more than $160 million into upgrades, renovations and children´s´ programs at its Columbus Isle property in the Bahamas, the Buccaneer´s Creek property in Martinique and the Cancun Yucatan property in Mexico.
