Che Guevara Trail Boosts Bolivian Tourism Offers

Bolivia is benefiting from an influx of intrepid travelers who want to follow in the footsteps of their hero, Che Guevara.

The creation of the Che Guevara Trail in La Higuera is bringing more and more people to this South American nation, keen to see where the charismatic leader undertook some of his revolutionary activities.

Che himself was a legendary explorer and adventurer, with his early South American road trip documented in his “Motorcycle Diaries”, recently made into a big budget movie.

It´s hardly surprising, therefore, that his movements in Bolivia should inspire backpackers the world over to pay respects to the great man by undertaking an adventure themselves.

The trail is marked by branded signposts and covers an area of around 115 square miles. Split into two main sections, the northern route leads from Santa Cruz to La Higuera, where Che was eventually executed in 1967.
