Central Europe Touts Travel for Just $100 a Day
Representatives from all of the Central Europe Experience member nations held a press breakfast in New York on Wednesday that showed how you can visit their major cities for around $100 per day per person, not counting air fare.
The Central Europe Experience member nations include Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. According to Michael Gigl, the director North America of New York’s Austrian Tourist Office, “in these difficult times, Central Europe is still doing relatively well. It’s still a value. A $100 a day vacation may not be a luxury vacation, but it’s still an exciting vacation.”
A day in Bratislava priced at $90, for instance, would include a $54 per person rate at the Hotel Orlan, a free city curiosities tour, lunch at Traja Musketieri for $8, a visit to Devin Castle for $4, a free coronation ceremony, and a three-course dinner at Presburg for $24. The hotel prices throughout the programs include breakfast and taxes.
A $99 day in Berlin would include a stay at the Olivaer Apart Hotel for $54 per person, a half-hour tour in a Velotaxi pedicab for $20, a lunch at Sausage at Curry 36 for $7, a walk through Kreuzberg district with free visit to the Kreuzberg Museum, the free Carnival of Cultures festival free and dinner at Carnival of Cultures for $18. Besides Bratislava and Berlin, the countries have $100 day programs for Dresden, Munich, Prague, Salzburg, Vienna, Warsaw and Budapest.
