San Jose._ The promotion of the region as only one joint destination will be the new strategy laid out by Central American nations in an effort to lure more European tourists in 2003, the Costa Rican Ministry of Tourism announced.

In order to set this project going, each and every country –including Belize- will chip in $50,000 into a mutual fund to hire an international expert and open up an ad hoc office in Europe, Costa Rica’s minister of tourism Ruben Pacheco explained in a press conference.

Mr. Pacheco pointed out the new initiative is backed up by the German government, and it’s an attractive idea even though the office headquarters have not been picked yet.
