Cayman Islands: $360 Million Mixed-Use Project Planning to Break Ground

A new $360 million mixed-use development is set to break ground in the Cayman Islands in the spring of this year, according to developers.

The property, which will include an Arnold Palmer signature golf course, will also feature a Town Centre with shops, a tourism and residential community and a vacation resort.

The Ironwood community, as it will be known, is being designed by Caymanian architect John Doak, while the resort hotel and club house will be designed by local architects DDL.

“The development of Ironwood and the continuation of the East-West Corridor is the catalyst for more development in the area as it provides the nucleus of infrastructure needed to develop beautiful East End and North Side in a responsible and sustainable way,” said Denise Gower, spokesperson for the project.

James McVey will be the project director for the project, which will have a build schedule of around 24 months.

He said Ironwood had agreed to work with local developers on the project and could begin construction “once all the necessary agreements and paperwork are in place.”

Developers are planning a 10-mile extension of the East West Corridor, and are in what they said were final P3 (public-private partnership) discussions with the government to launch that project.
