Cayman Airways Cuts Agent Pay to Keep Fares “Affordable”
Cayman Airways will cut travel agents’ commission rate from 10 percent to 6 percent, effective April 1. Acting CEO Olson Anderson said the new commission structure “aims to ensure that airfares remain affordable for travelers. “
He pointed out that the lower rate is still higher than the rates offered by competing airlines serving the Cayman Islands.
“For over a decade, airlines worldwide have been reducing commission payments to reduce the cost of air travel,” Anderson said. “This new commission structure will benefit Cayman Airways’ customers. We look forward to continuing to work closely with our travel agent partners.”
