Carnival Magic Sustains Thruster Damage, Cancels Mexico Call

Carnival Cruise Lines said the Carnival Magic experienced a technical problem with one of its stern thrusters and, as a result, modified its itinerary so it can be repaired. The modified itinerary includes an overnight stay in Progreso, Mexico, on Wednesday instead of a day-long call at Costa Maya, Mexico. Carnival Magic will visit Cozumel on Friday, as scheduled.

The technical problem does not compromise the ship’s safety and all other systems and hotel services are functioning normally. Guests will receive a $25-per-person credit to their shipboard accounts.

The Carnival Magic is now on its first cruise out of its new year-round homeport of Galveston, Texas. It is a six-day cruise that departed on Monday. The ship is scheduled to return to Galveston on Nov. 20 to begin year-round seven-day Caribbean departures.
