Carnival Cruise Lines Promotes Ben Clement, Paul Weber to Vice President

Carnival Cruise Lines named Ben Clement vice president-newbuilds and Paul Weber vice president-supply chain. As vice president-newbuilds, Clement oversees the construction of Carnival’s two new 130,000-ton ships -- the Carnival Magic, set to debut May 1, and Carnival Breeze, scheduled to enter service in spring 2012. He also works closely with the company’s interior designers and product development team, as well as Carnival Corp.’s shipbuilding division and the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy where both ships are being built.

Mr. Clement joined Carnival in 1997 as a supervisor-food and beverage technical services and held several management positions within the hotel operations department before transferring to the shipbuilding division in 2006. Mr. Clement reports to Lania Rittenhouse, Carnival’s vice president for product development.

Weber joined the Carnival organization in 2002 as vice president-technical purchasing for parent company Carnival Corp. Prior to that, he held a number of positions, including general manager of the purchasing and materials management group for Stolt-Nielsen, a global operator of chemical tankers, for 10 years.

In his new position as vice president-supply chain for Carnival Cruise Lines, Weber is responsible for the company’s purchasing operations, which encompasses supplying all food, beverage, hotel and technical supplies necessary for the 22-vessel fleet. He is also responsible for the cruise line’s logistics and warehousing operations. Weber reports to Ruben Rodriguez, Carnival’s executive vice president of ship operations.
