Carnival Creates Marketing, Guest Experience Position

Carnival Cruise Lines appointed Ruben Rodriguez to the new position of executive vice president of marketing and guest experience, effective October 29.

Rodriguez most recently was a partner and managing director in the Miami office of Boston Consulting Group, a global strategy and management consulting firm. At Carnival, he will have overall responsibility for marketing, public relations, guest experiences and product development, and will report to Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill.

Mr. Rodriguez, 44, started with BCG in its Los Angeles office in the 1990’s where he spent six years advising consumer branded companies on growth and marketing strategies.

He left BCG in 1999 to serve as vice president and general manager of eToys International, and then joined Charles Schwab Corporation in 2001 as senior vice president of corporate strategy. He became head of Schwab’s southeast retail division in 2003, and relocated to Miami, where he rejoined BCG in early 2005.
