Caribbean-Wide Booking, Info Site Launched

The Caribbean has a new tourism website. One of the significant developments of 2013 is a region-wide portal dedicated to promoting the Caribbean to tourists worldwide.

The Caribbeantravel.com website was developed by the Caribbean Tourism Development Company, which is described as a public and private sector initiative for regional marketing. The site consists of state-of-the-art technology for a one-stop, complete and comprehensive site for destinations, hotels, attractions and services.

The development company is a joint effort between the public sector Caribbean Tourism Organization and the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, which looks after the interests of private tourism businesses.

The Cayman Islands is participating in the initiative, said Jane van der Bol, executive director of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association, which represents about 250 businesses.

“The Cayman Islands has a presence on the website with a list of hotels, restaurants and activities, plus great specials for tourists to visit the Cayman Islands,” Ms. van der Bol said. “The ‘General’ section provides excellent basic information for the traveller to learn about Cayman. There is even information on nightlife, airlines, entry requirements, activities and marriage requirements. There is also an interactive map with listings from members who posted their information.”
