Caribbean Sun and Caribbean Star Airlines, two regional commuter airlines, are redoubling their commitment to working with regional media operatives to help the region and its people.

Speaking in the aftermath of Counterpart International´s Caribbean Media Exchange on Sustainable Tourism meeting (CMExPress), the airlines´ president Yolanda Suarez said her organization is already responding to the call made by Wesley Gibbings, President of the Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM), for greater collaboration between media, officials and Caribbean tourism representatives.

"Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun are committed to allowing everyone the opportunity of economic development here in their countries, not abroad ...and we can´t do that without encouraging a well informed, balanced and fair regional media corps," said Suarez, who credited writers and editors for their role in the airlines´ success to date.

Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun started in what has been probably one of the worst eras of the airline industry, Suarez admitted, but her chairman believes in efficient, seamless, quality air transportation in the region. "When other players in the industry continue to cut back on equipment, on routes, on investment, Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun are moving forward," she contrasted.
