Canadian Tour Operator Goes Out of Business
Canadian tour operator Conquest Vacations has ceased operations, the company said in an April 15 announcement on its website. Conquest offered Canadians vacation packages to the Caribbean, U.S., Mexico and Europe.
“Conquest Vacations regrets the inconvenience caused to the passengers due to cessation of its operations,” the company said on its website.
“Unfortunately, this has been a result of overcapacity and price war among the major tour operators, unrealistic and unreasonable demands by the credit card processing companies, credit squeeze and economic turmoil in recent months making it impossible for companies like Conquest to continue in business even after weathering many storms over the past 37 years.”
Customers who booked with cash or check through a travel agency were advised to contact their agency for assistance with a refund or claim. Those who booked with a credit card were advised to contact their credit card company for a refund.
