Businessman Hopes to Build Small Hotel on Cayman Brac

Tourism to Cayman Brac, the larger of the two Sister Islands in the Cayman Islands, may get a boost if plans for a 32-room hotel are approved.

The 2006 closure of the Divi Tiara Beach Resort, Cayman Brac’s largest resort, left the island with less than 100 guest rooms among one resort, a bed and breakfast, condominiums and guest cottages.

Businessman Cleveland Dilbert, who owns liquor stores and restaurants on Grand Cayman, hopes to open the Brac Inn a year from now in the island’s southwestern sector, overlooking Salt Water Pond.

Facilities would include 30 one-bedroom suites and two two-bedroom suites, each with a kitchenette and bath. The Brac Inn also would have a conference room, a buffet-style restaurant and a bar.
