Buenos Aires to open first tango-themed hotel

A group of Argentine and U.S. investors will soon open in the San Telmo neighborhood –right in the heart of Buenos Aires- the first hotel entirely devoted to tango fans.

The project rescued a splendid art-nouveau mansion built in the early 1900s. General-manager Hector Villalba said “the Dandy Royal Mansion has now turned into a snug five-star mansion.”

Each and every one of its fifteen rooms –they combine old-timed esthetics and modern conveniences- is named after a renowned tango composer and performer such as D´Arienzo, Canaro, Pugliese and the Piazzolla suite.

Villalba, 74, is a great tango buff and dance professor who taught for over 30 years in San Francisco, United States. When he came back to Buenos Aires three years ago, he opened the Dandy Royal Academy –located next to the hotel.

The establishment –intended to lure tourists with medium high purchasing power interested in tango- features a sort of “intensive clinic” for those eager to take crash courses on tango.
