Brazilian Daily Highlights Cuba’s Tourist Attractions

Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo printed an eight-page travel supplement devoted to Cuba in which it counts the many natural beauties the island nation has to offer and underscores the hospitality and friendliness of the Cuban people.

Special correspondent Alessandra Kianek gives readers her views about a variety of choices around Havana, the allures of Jardines del Rey and Varadero, and the delicacies of Holguin and the southern keys.

The reporter writes extensively about Ernesto Che Guevara’s overpowering presence in every nook and cranny of the island, as well as the memories of American writer Ernest Hemingway and his many hangouts in Havana.

Cuban cuisine takes quite a number of lines in the paper’s supplement as Mrs. Kianek spells out the secrets of several traditional recipes and their resemblance with other dishes in the region.

“In Cuba, the nostalgia that 1950s-vintage cars bring, coupled with a splendid architecture of the 1920s and 1950s, make the city of Havana irresistibly charming,” the report concludes.
