Brazil ranks as one of the world’s heavyweights in ecological tourism

Ecological tourism is a modality of traditional tourism that combines environmental, social, recreational and economic activities. Brazil, for its part, stands out as one of the richest countries of the world as far as biological diversity is concerned for the practice of ecological tourism.

Ecological tourism works as a tool in promoting the preservation of different zones on the planet currently endangered by wood felling, excessive cropping, urban expansion, intensive stock breeding, polluting factories and an endless array of manmade commercial activities that threaten the few wild spots that still remain on the face of the earth.

Ecological tourism is seen here as one of the means the Brazilian government can depend on in a five-year term to boost the visits of those tourists who will fork over funds aimed at the protection of the environment.

Brazil rubs elbows with those countries that rank as top destinations for ecological tourism. Thailand, Australia, Tanzania, Mexico and Costa Rica are other cases in point.
